i will tell you what i was told by a sensitive years ago,because i was the same as you,reading everything i could about it,
i was told stop reading about it and just do it!!!
your head will be full of lots of different ways to do the one thing that you want,which is to open up and close down,just find a tecnique thats simple and works for you!
the way i chill is to find a time thats quiet

anyway,i used to have an old personal cd player with earfones,when i went to bed i put my music on,which in my choice was benedictine monks singing in latin,or native american stuff like dolleigh put up on the forum a wee while ago,now the whole point of this is to calm the mind and chill,and yes i chilled that much i fell asleep,but that dosent matter how often that happens,as it trying to train the brain to chill,so the more often i done that,the quicker i got calm,at first before i went on an investigation i used to listen to the music for about an hour,hour and a half,but then it got to the stage i just listened to it in the car on the way there,so it was my switch so to speak that calmed me,now i just sort of switch on automatically,but i need to start listening to it again as i feel im not calm enough.
now to me if your freaking out at everything your not calm,and your expecting something bad to happen which is stopping you from being calm,if you see what i mean,do not expect something will appear to you straight away,do not expect anything,just consentrate on calming your mind.
